Types of Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage

The most clinical of massage techniques.  Supervised by a renowned back specialist, this form of deep, flowing and detoxifying strokes will restore balance to overstressed muscle groups, nourish soft tissue by increasing blood flow while relaxing both your mind and body.   For those who have neck and back conditions or injuries and who are often worried that massage may make it worse - this is exactly the type of massage for you.  A quick thourough health history is taken and your body is checked for imbalances, poor muscle tone, tightness and tension spots.  As you are worked on, your therapist will identify areas of concern, weakness or toxicity.  Through a combination of different techniques, you will see how clinical massage can truly improve your health, not just feel good.  At the end of your session, you will be given recommendations as to what you can do to improve or correct your health. You will also receive a complimentary postural analysis with Dr. Kaiser that will show you your current posture, weakpoints and what you will look like in 10-15 years.  A great way to improve your body while relaxing your mind.

Hot Stone Treatments

Hot stone massage is a variation on swedish massage.  Heated soothing, smooth lava stones are placed on key points on the body.  The therapist holds the stones and uses them to massage the body.  The pressure and heat from the stones transfer into your body as they are firmly but gently glided across your skin.   Stones come in all shapes and sizes and varying temperatures are used throughout the session.  Warm stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph between tissues.  Cold stones aid in reducing inflammation, shifting blood flow away from an injured area.  Most sessions incoporate use of warm stones that among other things are clinically great for treating back pains and aches, poor circulation, arthritis, insomnia, stress anxiety and tension while calming your nervous system.

Swedish / Deep Tissue

The most well known form of massage. Swedish massage is a vigourous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to work on the soft tissue of the body. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive and tapping movements to work on your body.  Those who are chronically tight, have ongoing spasms or trigger points will benefit most from this technique. A great way to relax, envigorate and rejuvinate

Lymphatic Massage

Light work done with very gentle gliding with two or three fingers over entire body. Toxins are moved from the soft tissue of the body to the lymphatic system and a natural detoxification of the body occurs that benefits the soft tissue and skin and their appearance as well as the organs and organs systems of the body promoting better health and digestion.  Works well with a detox diet or other weight loss program.

Myofacial Release

Invigorating body work the helps the musculature of the body move freer and easier. The release of the fascia which lies between the skin and muscle tissue, allows for increased blood flow and a release from the "tight" feeling often accompanied with pain.  Great for athletes and those who have good tone in the muscles as well as those recovering from injury.
