Massage Director

Massage therapy is less of a career and more of a way of life. While I was in high school I received my first massage to treat an acute volleyball injury. When I was back on the court that night with no pain and 100% strength, I knew massage was going to play a big role in my life. At 16 years old I had officially become a “massage junkie.”

After high school I moved to Portland, Oregon to go to college and massage school simultaneously. I graduated from Ashmead School of Massage in 2002, specializing in sports therapy, with even more passion to heal and deepen my knowledge of healing. With my professional school training and continuing education I have become proficient in deep tissue, sports therapy, swedish, prenatal, trigger-point, cranial-sacral, lymph drainage, myofascial release, hot stone, chair massage, reflexology and PNF stretching (proprioceptive nueromuscular facilitation). I spent my first few years as a licensed therapist really searching for my niche . I worked in a health club that specialized in training clients with injuries or weight problems that prohibited them from using traditional exercise techniques. I donated my hands for athletic events, corporate events and many school events in order to build a more diverse clientele.

In 2006 I opened my own business called Miss Fix It Massage Therapy, in Portland,Oregon. My goal was to do just that, fix it, whatever it was. I specialized in RSI (repetitive strain/stress injuries), post injury/surgery, high risk clients including oncology, pediatric and geriatric and treating chronic injuries that were caused by car accidents or workplace injuries. I worked closely with back specialists, physical therapists and orthopaedic surgeons. I was very involved with local businesses, often bringing my table or chair to them to encourage health in the workplace.

In September of 2010 my husband, son and I relocated to New York City and I am very excited to be able to continue doing what I love to do. In the spring of 2011 I became a part of the awesome team here at the Kaiser Back Institute. Their focus on stress reduction, posture, sports and dance injuries along with core stabilization got me excited to join the team. I currently oversee our therapeutic massage program, community outreach and offsite events. I look forward to meeting and treating you while on your path to wellness!
